LauraK takes podium 3rd, with her RTR-Ishima racer.

SMRC Cup 5, once again held in nothern Copenhagen, was to be a great event for young rising talent LauraK.
LauraK is driving for Ishimaracing.dk, curently testing the abillities of the Ishima RTR Rave car, in competition with much more expensive cars such as Mugens, Kyoshoes and XRays. So far the test has been succesfull ! - maybe it`s true, that it mainly depends on the driver. You just can`t buy succes !

Comftable with 3 previous juniortrophies in her first raceseason ever, she now decided to fight for a “real” podium position challenging the old boys terrotorie. With practical no traning since last memorable race, 1 1/2 mounth ago, she again managed to bring herself direct to the semies, being 2nd and obtaining a finale entrance.

The track known for its rockhard relentless surface, had been coated with fresh loose topsoil, which in the early quals made it a loose and skating experience. Very soft on the throttle and 0.9 springs with early engaging composite clutch, was a good choice. A set of pre used DLD Hat Trick 2 hard found the balanced traction she needed, she was flying towards the final !

Taking the beating during the long raceday, the track again turned into the well known dry, hard bumpy surface, but this time a short rainfall occurred just half an hour before the finals. Suddenly there was all the grip she needed
so 1.1 springs, alu clutch and Hat Trick soft was to be used. Soft springs, 450 shockoil and very low rideheight
and downdrop, made the Ishima rocksteady. 4-6-2 in the diffs should prove to be working fine.

After a good start, without being involved in the usual “come together” crash in the first corner, she quickly broke free and began to dig into her usual rhythm, focusing on her mantra ” zip errors, as fast you can”. The first 20 minutes, she was pending in the middle of the race field, waiting for opportunities to forward any mistake made by her opponents. And they did make mistakes, which she cleverly utilized, pushing her car into
3rd position, passing reputable experienced drivers. Maintaining this position, she dug in and kept this position the last 9 minuttes of the race. Goal achieved, a podium place and victory for youth in this “old boys club”.
